At the very end of the year, I finally completed (piecing, quilting and binding) my Mariner's Compass that I purchased the pattern from Quilting By the Bay way back in 2013. This entire quilt was done with Ruler work and Free-motion quilting. I used a 50/50 Bamboo/Cotton blend for the batting and various Glide thread colors throughout.
One of my customers from Iowa sent me this photo this week. I had quilted both green alter pieces a while back for her. So pretty to see them in their intended location.
I decided to make this bag to carry my quilting projects to various quilt retreats and outings. The pattern is an RLR Creations pattern available on Etsy.com for $6.95 as a pdf download. I did a few modifications on my bag by using some Dritz 1.5" Belting/Strapping in place of making the handles and by adding Feet (Bottom Stud 8/16" Nickel) from OhioTravelBag.com to the bottom of the bag to protect a bit from wear.
I made the Large size 18" wide, 14" high and 8.5" deep.
I do say that I absolutely love the finished product!
I just love quilting holiday quilts in the off season. It brings a smile and just puts me in a happy mood. Here are some photos of the latest holiday happenings I've quilted up.
So, I have decided to start this Blog to keep all my Quilty friends up to date on what is going on around the Studio. I am kind of a crazy quilter & creator of many things...
I will post photos of quilts that I have completed as I go also so that you don't have to be a Facebook follower if you don't like that sort of thing as I know many don't.
Here are a couple of quilts I pulled off the frame today to get us started.
The top one has the "Let It Snow" quilting design placed on it with Robison-Anton Metallic thread in Silver.
The second quilt is Marilyn's and has a Eucalypt quilting design on it.
Both of the quilting designs are available from UrbanElementz.com
